Food Hacks: Make Your Own Cold Brew Iced Tea

Summer has finally arrived! Whether you’re lucky enough to have a garden of your own or a chance to chill in your local park, I bet you’re looking forward to sip a nice cold drink under the sunshine. So why not learn to make your own cold brew iced tea?

People think the best way to make iced tea is to brew your favourite tea bag as usual and let it cool down. But I disagree — I think iced tea tastes much better when cold brewed and let sit in your fridge for a few hours. Even better if you prepare it the evening before, maybe on a Saturday for a Sunday brunch?

So, what do you need?

-Loose tea (or a tea bag)

-Water

-A pitcher (or a French press)

Method:

  1. Choose your favourite tea. A good combination could be your regular black tea with some added fresh lemon slices once it’s cooled!

  2. Place 1 to 2 teaspoons of loose leaves in a pitcher or in your French press (the amount depends on how strong you want it to be, you can also a couple of tea bags instead if using a pitcher )

  3. Slowly pour cold water over the tea leaves. If using a French press, wait at least 5 minutes before pressing the leaves down with the lid.

  4. Place your tea-flavoured water in the fridge for 8 to 12 hours before serving it over ice!

The cold brew iced tea can last in the fridge for up to 3-5 days. Don’t refrain from adding lemon or lime wedges, fresh fruits or fresh mint to spice it up a bit!

Hope you will enjoy making your very own cold brew iced tea!

Love,
